Recently a friend of mine asked me to help teach them computer programming. This got me thinking about what the best programming language to learn as a first language is. As you likely already know, this is a question that has been quite highly debated, and doesn’t really have one set answer. This led me to wonder what qualities are good to have in a first programming language.
Recently I was working on making a visual novel with a few other people using the Ren’Py visual novel engine. While working on the game, I realized that I might be able to automate some of the testing of it using Travis CI. After a bit of Google searching and a good bit of trial and error, I was able to put together a script that would allow for automated testing of the game using the Lint script that Ren’Py provides.
Recently I decided to make myself a personal website, as I figured that it would become useful as I entered college and eventually in my career as well. Unfortunately, as I was a high school senior who wasn’t really into spending money on the internet, I had to do so in a way that was free, but still looked decently professional. Throughout the process of researching for and working on my website I learned a little bit about making personal websites on a budget of zero dollars and zero cents.
